Since the T1 connection to the other LAN is splitting at a switch , there's no security defined.Doing this is actually exposing your LAN to other systems which are going to share your T1 connection. The best way to define security on this kind of environment is to setup a VLAN by having a router at the other end . This was first published in February 2002
