Why can't I see my router (Cisco 2501) on the LAN. Router shows with CDP n command from other routers and the router in question can see other routers with show cdp n, most of which it because of LAN connection. But I cannot ping the router from the network and I cannot ping devices from the router that are on the network.

Jeremy,
Here is a list of possible troubleshooting tips that may solve your problem:
  1. If you have a serial cable connected to the router, make sure that the router that is acting as the DCE has clockrate configured on its interface.
  2. You may also want to swap the cable with a cable that you know works. You can also try to bring down the interface and bring it up on both routers.
  3. Make sure your address information is correct on both interfaces and also make sure not to use a classfull routing protocol.
