Do we need to be RFC 1918 compliant if we are using any of the routing protocols like eigrp, ospf, bgp, etc.

You definitely need to be RFC 1918 if you are using routing protocols. For example, if you are using networks that belong to other companies you could cause routing problems for yourself and the other company. RFC 1918 is something you should always follow.
