PSTN to IP Softphones solution

I know that it is possible to have incoming calls from PSTN to IP Softphones but cannot find where to get numbers from and which is the most elegant solution. Your help would be most appreciated.

http://www.xten.com/index.php?menu=ippstn lists various PSTN providers that support this service. Another company is Vonage at www.vonage.com. You have to register your PSTN number with someone so that the calls can be routed. PSTN companies regulate the numbers, so that is going to be your starting point.
