I have an interesting problem. I am using a Win2k system to connect to a local domain. I have configured a VPN connection to a Win2k VPN server. I know the account that I am using works under a Win98 VPN connection, however it doesn't work correctly under Win2k. I am able to connect (ping the server, I get an IP address), but I can't see any other resources on the other side of the VPN. What's up?

It depends on the type of VPN connection you are creating. Since you mentioned Win98, it sounds like you are using PPTP. You may be better off switching to IPSec. An easy way to fix your VPN problems would be to use a low cost VPN solution (Imperito for example, www.imperito.com) that is simple to install and bring up.

You can go with the MS solution, but it's not as straightforward as the instructions say and you may still have some problems according to expert opinion on the MS VPN solutions. Here's a link to a Network World article on VPNs that talks about the MS solution: http://www.nwfusion.com/reviews/2001/1001rev.html?docid=6223
