Is there any way to gain access to privileged exec mode without power cycling the router?

I am working on a Cisco 2600 router and Cisco 1900 switch. The console is connected to a modem which is hooked up to a telephone line. This is a new network for me and it is not very well documented. I attempted to console in the router to see its configuration. I was able to console in, but I couldn?t go to exec mode, since I do not know the password. I know the password recovery process, but that requires power cycling the router which is not possible. Is there any other way I can gain access to privileged exec mode without power cycling the router?

In whatever way you log onto the router (using console, using modem, or by telnet), you will always be asked for the enable password if you want to go in the privileged exec mode. So you must do password recovery, which of course needs power cycling the router. So schedule an outage, inform the users about it, and do it.
