Just when you thought there were enough choices for Cisco certifications, Cisco adds another item to their menu. The CCVP is a logical step if you are planning on going for your CCIE Voice. In addition, it really proves your level of competency in all aspects of Cisco IP Telephony and ultimately makes you that much more marketable. As far as choosing between the specialized vs. the professional voice track, there is an easy answer: The CCVP is actually comprised of 5 of the exams that you take to achieve the specialized certification. So by pursuing your CCVP, you will also be acquiring the specialized certifications along the way! I recommend starting with the Quality of Service (QOS) exam since that particular exam overlaps each specialization. From there, you can selectively pick your battles by taking the exams that apply to your current job or those in which you fell more comfortable.
