How do you connect two computers using Ethernet, with no hub or router?
The easiest way to connect two computers directly is to use a crossover cable. The pin out is as follows:

1 Rx+ 3 Tx+
2 Rc- 6 Tx-
3 Tx+ 1 Rc+
6 Tx- 2 Rc-

You can find more information about straight through and crossover cables here.
