I am able connect to my server through GPRS or LAN. How do I check the speed of my network using a small VB application?

If you have the application ready, you can simply run it to check the speed while you're connected. The speed on the LAN will depend on the switch and the NIC, which could be 10, 100 or 1000 Mb. The actual speed will depend upon various factors, including the processing speed of your desktop and server.

You could also use some free tools, like Bandwidth Monitor Pro, to check your real time bandwidth.
