How do I block Internet Web browser mail, such as AOL, MSN, Excite, etc., and Internet chat with a Cisco Pix?
The best way is to allow access to all users for some time, say a week. Enable full logging on the firewall. Then check the logs to find out what messenger/mail services are being connected to on what port numbers. Now you can block those. You might have to check the logs once in a while as all of them keep changing IP addresses for security reasons. As far as mail is concerned, you can try blocking all requests with the word "mail" in them.
