Q

How can I find out who owns an IP address?

I once came across a site that gave me my IP and also the registered name of the computer owner? me. Do you happen...

to know this site or another one where I can find this information? I assume by computer owner you mean domain name? To find out who owns an IP address or a particular block of addresses you can check with the registrar. A good online source to track down this type of information is samspade.org or if you are on a Linux pc "whois" will also work. Other useful sites include:

ARIN.net
IANA.net
Networksolutions.com
