Q

Does each routing protocol have a different routing table?

Learn from our routing and switching expert, Sudhanshu Gupta, whether different routing protocols such as RIP and IGRP have different routing tables or number of columns for specifying information related to it.

Does each routing protocol have a different routing table as in the format or structure? I.e., does RIP and IGRP have a different number of columns for specifying some different information related to the given protocol?
Devices maintain one routing table with the information associated with all routing protocols. Cost of routes, learned from different routing protocols, decides which one would be taken for a destination. The first alphabet denotes the routing protocol a particular route is learned from.
