Can fiber patch cables connect to different micron ratings?

Is it feasible and/or desirable to utilize fiber patch cables at a different micron rating to connect to a higher or lower micron rating? In example, from the MPOE, the rating is 62.5 and we will be using 50 to patch from the MPOE termination in the computer room to end equipment.

You can use 50 micron with 62.5 channels but not the other way around. As a matter of fact, mode conditioning patch cords for gigabit over 220 m are 62.5 channels on one end and 50 micron on the other.
