If you are looking for a simple answer, then it is yes. A Layer 3 switch has all the capabilities of a router. It can do all that a router can do. In fact, it does the job faster than a router. If you have multiple VLANs and need a router for InterVLAN routing, then a Layer 3 switch is a very good choice.
